Cafe Oxford

New Books | This weekend I finally spent a Waterstones voucher I'd been holding onto for the past year when I headed off to Oxford to catch up with Ria. The Body Library wasn't a book I'd seen or heard of before but it jumped out to me from a table in the Sci-Fi section thanks to it's bold cover design, followed by the interesting blurb. I couldn't bring myself to leave £1.01 on the voucher so I also picked up a couple of the Penguin Modern Classics which are just £1 each. Now I just need to find the time to read them...

A Different Platform | Speaking of books, Blogger's Bookshelf joined the world of Instagram earlier this month! I know, I know, we're a little late to the #bookstagram party but we've finally jumped on board and will be running the account as a team, just like we do with the blog. You can follow Team BB for all things bookish, including opportunities to get involved with our monthly book club, at @bloggersbookshelf - we hope to see you over there!

The Tipsy Vegan | I'm always keen to try out new foodie places that cater for free from diets so I was very excited to visit The Tipsy Vegan in Norwich a few weeks back to catch up with old work friends and try out some new food. I opted for the paella with a side of parmesan and herb chips and was really impressed; the chips in particular were delicious. I also had dessert (even though no one else did...), choosing the lemon panna cotta, a dish I've actually never eaten the non-vegan version of, but also really enjoyed. The Tipsy Vegan can be found in the quieter St Benedicts area and has a really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. If you're in the area I'd highly recommend this as a great lunch spot.

Everything Is Fine | The best recent addition to my podcast subscriptions has to be The Good Place: The Podcast hosted by Marc Evan Jackson, who plays Shawn on the show. In each episode Marc is joined by colleagues ranging from creator Mike Schur to writers, costume designers, special effects experts and fellow actors, who help him break down each episode after-show style, and share behind the scenes snippets. I'm a huge fan of The Good Place (roll on season 3!) and I love learning about the process of making a TV show so this is pretty much the perfect podcast for me.

New On Netflix | In place of my usual TV section of this series I wanted to instead talk about Netflix's adaptation of Jenny Han's YA novel To All The Boys I've Loved Before which was released on Friday. Whilst romcoms aren't usually my go-to film genre, after reading the book back in 2016 I was excited to see how the story and lovable Covey family would be brought to life on screen. Luckily I wasn't disappointed and I thought they did a great job, particularly with the casting of Lara Jean and making the script feel realistic. Overall it was the perfect Friday night film after a busy week at work!
