Vegan Gluten Free Mocha Walnut Cake

A New Show & An Old Favourite | Instead of leaving the TV segment until the end of the post, this time thought I'd dive right in as I'm excited to tell you about my favourite watch of the past month. Good Girls is a 10-episode series following a trio of mothers who for various reasons find themselves in desperate need of cash. Whilst it's initially only suggested as a joke, together they end up hatching a plan to rob a local supermarket. All goes well until they realise that they're in over their heads and become involved with a local criminal group. It's a great short watch and as a comedy-drama it has both hilarious and heartbreaking moments. All ten episodes are on Netflix UK and I'd highly recommend a binge if you haven't seen it yet.

In order to watch Good Girls I hit pause on an unplanned Desperate Housewives rewatch having pressed play on the pilot one evening when I wanted some background noise only to find myself 13 episodes deep a couple of days later. I was a huge fan of this show when it originally aired and have rewatched it multiple times since but it had been a little while since I'd revisited Wisteria Lane. As I write this I'm currently part-way through season four... but at this rate by the time you read this I'll probably have reached season five!

All Of The Zeroes | This past month saw my Grandma turn the big 100 and receive her card from the Queen which of course she was very pleased with! We celebrated with her friends and family and I experimented with the cake decorating using chocolate-dipped fruits. I also recently made a vegan and gluten-free mocha and walnut cake for a friends 30th birthday (pictured above) - more on this in a future Cooking Lately post.

In other 'zero' news we recently shared our 1000th post over at Blogger's Bookshelf! Although I may have ditched my old blog to start afresh here, BB has been a constant for the last 5+ years and has kept me in the blogging loop whether I've been able to find the time for personal blog projects or not. I'm super proud of our team members (both past and present) and what we've created over there - here's to 1000 more bookish posts!

New Loungewear | For me the recent heatwave we've been experiencing here in the UK has brought with it some wardrobe issues; bring me a cosy jumper any day of the week! Whilst I'm still figuring out how to be a person who loves longsleeves and at the same time still dress sensibly for 30 degree weather, I have managed to find a new heat appropriate loungewear item that I love in the form of these 3/4 length trousers from Uniqlo. They're a comfortable and loose relaxed culotte style, made from a lightweight viscose and as a bonus they're only £7.90. I picked up a pair and loved them so much I went back for another as they've been absolutely perfect for the hot weather. Go grab yourself a pair, you won't regret it!
