may in books

May's Stats: 1 short story collection, 2 YA novels, 3 library books, 5 books read in total

It finally happened, May saw a reading slump come along to rain on my bookish parade and sadly I'm currently still attempting to dig my way out of it! Don't get me wrong, five books is still a lot of books to read in a month, but I have to admit I really struggled my way through a couple of them that I thought I would love.

Books Read:
  • The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle, Stuart Turton
  • Illuminae, Amy Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
  • They All Fall Down, Roxanne St Claire
  • The Skeleton's Holiday, Leonora Carrington
  • Where'd You Go Bernadette?, Maria Semple

May's Reading Goal Progress

Somehow despite the dreaded slump I managed to cross a couple of Popsugar prompts off the list in May, with Illuminae fitting 'by two authors' and our BB book club read The Skeleton's Holiday fitting 'borrowed/given to you as a gift'.

Despite adding it to my TBR for the month, I didn't quite get around to picking up Sidekick Returns (Auralee Wallace) to cross another book off my vow to read list for 2018 - thank you very much, reading slump. I am still hoping to find time for this one soon though!

May's Book Of The Month

The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle was hands down my favourite read of the month. The book is a mysterious tale with a fascinating concept that sees Aiden Bishop wake up each day in a new 'host' attempting to solve the murder of Evelyn Hardcastle. The beautiful inside cover design was a great bonus too!

  2. Even your reading slump managed to get you through more books than I did in May, I made such a poor attempt! Hopefully June will be better for us both.
