Little Detours #4

little detours watercolour painting rabbit One Year Later | Although I haven't exactly posted regularly here over the past twelve months I wanted to mark the fact that A Natural Detour turns one today! I'm still experiencing similar struggles to those mentioned in my last Little Detours post but I'm hoping to try and finally complete some of those draft posts ready to share. You may have also noticed that the blog has had a little bit of a makeover earlier this month with a new minimalist template from Maira's Etsy store (which I would highly recommend) so once again it feels like a bit of a fresh start.

Book Club | Over on my other blogging venture Blogger's Bookshelf we recently announced that we are excited to be launching our very own online book club in 2018! Each month throughout the year we will be introducing some form of 'short story' that we would love for you to read along with us. I'm already looking forward to diving in to our January pick short story collection Tales Of The Peculiar by Ransom Riggs which is also packed full with beautiful illustrations.

Farewell To Nashville | When it was announced that Nashville (the TV show responsible for the majority of my music library) was coming to an end for the second time I knew it would be my last chance to catch the cast live on tour. Having missed out on the past couple of UK shows, and settling for watching this year's Royal Albert Hall performance on TV, I managed to nab tickets for myself and Ria to catch the London date of the UK Farewell Tour in April. I'll admit my bank balance wasn't as excited about this news as I am but I can't wait to finally see the live show!

A Podcast Recommendation | I've been working away on a post or two all about some of my favourite podcasts for a while now but I wanted to include a link to this episode of Out Of Line featuring Elsie Larson. I've been a fan of Elsie's blog A Beautiful Mess for years now and have been following her and her husband's journey to adopting their daughter. I found this podcast episode which is all about special needs adoption to be a really interesting and informative listen.

Prison Break | I know, I know I'm years late to the party on this one, but here's your regular Little Detours dose of TV talk. A friend and I recently started watching Prison Break and became instantly hooked, leaving us both wondering why we hadn't watched it earlier. As I write this post we're about to finish up the first season and have been loving it so far, although I'm not sure we'll get a chance to watch three more seasons before it's due to leave Netflix in January!

  1. My sister and I got obsessed with Prison Break as well! Sadly the first and second seasons are the only 'great' ones, just a word of warning!

    1. Thanks for the heads up! That's disappointing but at least we won't feel like we're missing out as much if we don't get to finish it!

  2. Love the new look! And Prison Break! Ah! Such a great show!! :D
